We should pray that the leaders of all countries discharge the rights of the people.

The Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Khalifa of the Promised Messiah(as), has highlighted the importance of prayer in light of the perilous and chaotic state of the world today. The Muslim leader also appealed for all Governments to treat their citizens with compassion, justice and equality.

Whilst delivering his weekly Friday Sermon from the Baitul Futuh Mosque in South-West London on 8 March 2013, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated that it was imperative that Ahmadi Muslims prayed for ‘Hasanaan Arabic term, which represents all forms of good and blessings.

Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“In certain countries, the opponents of our Jamaat [community] desire that Ahmadi Muslims be deprived of all of God’s blessings. Thus we should pray that our neighbours do not cause us any distress and we should pray that our cities and our countries are a source of happiness and contentment for us.”

Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad also went on to discuss the state and governance of certain Muslim countries.

“In some Muslim countries we find that it is the rulers or governments who are a source of torment and despair for their people. Thus we should pray that the leaders of all countries discharge the rights of the people, be compassionate, righteous and just. If they are unable to reform themselves then we should pray that they be replaced by leaders and governments that do bear these hallmarks.”

The world leader also expressed his appreciation for people outside of the Ahmadiyya Community who had shown their support and compassion to Ahmadi Muslims irrespective of differences of belief.

Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“In Pakistan and certain other countries, whilst there are those who are influenced by the extremist clerics and so try to cause harm to Ahmadi Muslims, there is also a significant population of people who have proved to be our good and loyal friends. They are genuinely sympathetic towards us, they wish us well and help us in times of difficulty or trial.”
