“Pray for the peace and security of the entire world, and pray also for the survival and security of Muslims. May Allah enable every Ahmadi to play their fullest part in establishing the sovereignty of the One God in the world and in spreading peace and security throughout it. May Allah enable all of us to do so.” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad 

Between 24 and 26 July 2026, the 60th Jalsa Salana UK (Annual Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was held at Hadeeqatul Mahdi in Alton, Hampshire. The three-day convention brought together people from across the world, with representation from 117 countries, and was broadcast live around the world on MTA International. 

Throughout the convention, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, delivered five addresses in which he called upon Muslims to deepen their relationship with God, fulfil the rights of humanity, champion truth over falsehood and work for peace in every part of the world. 

The proceedings began on Friday with the weekly Friday Sermon, delivered by His Holiness from Hadeeqatul Mahdi. His Holiness reminded all participants that the purpose of Jalsa Salana was spiritual and moral reform. He urged guests and volunteers alike to display patience and selfless service and advised all attendees to meet one another with love. 

Explaining the central purpose of the gathering, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“The essential thing is the spiritual nourishment for which we have come to Jalsa, and we must devote greater attention here to improving our spiritual lives.” 

His Holiness also emphasised that neither nationality nor social standing gave any person precedence over another. He said that all participants were equal guests of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and should cooperate fully with the arrangements, maintain cleanliness and uphold the discipline and peaceful atmosphere of the convention. 

Later on Friday, His Holiness attended the flag-hoisting ceremony. The flag of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and the Union Jack were raised together as a symbol of solidarity and of love for faith and nation. His Holiness then led a silent prayer before delivering the formal inaugural address of the Jalsa Salana. 

In his inaugural address, His Holiness spoke about taqwa, or true righteousness, and said that faith could not be reduced to outward claims or appearances. Rather, genuine belief requires a person to fulfil the rights of God and His creation and maintain the same high moral standards in private life as in public. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“If we are to attain success, reform ourselves, draw near to Allah the Almighty and become Ahmadi Muslims in the true sense, then it is essential that we strive with all our strength to walk upon the paths of righteousness, for without righteousness a person’s claim to faith is hollow.” 

His Holiness said that a person’s conduct towards their own family was a vital measure of their character and faith. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“The essential thing is the state of one’s heart. The heart must be pure; verbal claims alone are not enough. People may outwardly appear very righteous, speak excellent words and deliver fine speeches, but if they do not treat their wives and children well at home and their wives are distressed by them, or if the conduct of women or men is contrary to Islamic teachings, then they are not believers in the sight of Allah the Almighty.” 

Concluding the inaugural address, His Holiness urged the participants to remember not only their own needs but the suffering of people throughout the world. 

His Holiness said: 

“During these days, pay great attention to the remembrance of Allah. Pray abundantly for yourselves, for the Community and for the Muslim world; pray abundantly for the entire world as well. May Allah enable people to recognise Him, and may He enable us to fulfil the purpose of preaching and to convey His message while walking upon the path of righteousness. May Allah provide every means of ease for us and for the world, so that it may be protected from calamities and afflictions.” 

On Saturday, His Holiness directly addressed the ladies and girls attending Jalsa Salana. Speaking about the status and responsibilities Islam grants to women, His Holiness said that Muslim women had played a decisive role in the service and propagation of Islam from its earliest days and that women today should develop their religious knowledge and confidence to answer questions about their faith. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“In this age, women should strive in the field of preaching just as men should, and this is the jihad [struggle] of our time. Nowhere does the Holy Qur’an state, nor have Allah the Almighty, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) or the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) ever stated, that women should not enter the field of preaching.” 

His Holiness made clear that the jihad [struggle] to which he referred was the peaceful intellectual and spiritual effort to convey the teachings of Islam through knowledge and personal example. 

Calling upon Ahmadi Muslim women to pursue the highest standards of learning and spiritual understanding, His Holiness said: 

“Women should increase their knowledge… they should advance so greatly in knowledge and spiritual understanding that they surpass men in intellectual and spiritual matters, instead of merely equalling them. Only then will you be able to properly train your future generations.” 

His Holiness said that women had a central role in building the character and confidence of future generations.  

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“It is our responsibility to safeguard the world and to save it. For this, we must strive with all our strength.” 

On Saturday evening, His Holiness delivered his annual report on the worldwide progress of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He announced that, during the preceding year, 398 new local chapters had been established and the Community had become established for the first time in 811 new locations. A total of 172 mosques had been built or acquired and 127 mission houses had been opened. 

His Holiness announced that 267,596 people, representing more than 670 ethnic groups and nationalities across 132 countries, had joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community during the year. He also reported that the Holy Qur’an had now been published by the Community in 79 languages, with Lithuanian being the latest complete translation. 

A substantial part of the address detailed humanitarian and educational initiatives serving people irrespective of religion or background. The Community was operating 620 primary and middle schools and 80 secondary schools in 13 African countries. Through its hospitals and clinics, more than half a million patients had received treatment during the year. 

Highlighting the work of the international charity Humanity First, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“Through Humanity First, we were enabled to serve more than 2.5 million people in total. In 26 countries, assistance was provided to more than 200,000 people affected by 30 natural disasters and situations of war, including 125,000 people affected in Gaza. Medical treatment was also provided, including free eye care and cataract operations.” 

His Holiness also described the Community’s expanding media and publishing work. Its television and radio programmes had reached an estimated 230 million people, while coverage in newspapers had a potential readership of around 180 million. His Holiness said such progress was not the result of human power or wealth, but of the blessings of God. 

On Sunday, His Holiness delivered the concluding address of the convention. He explained that the pledge of allegiance, known as bai‘at, demanded a real and lasting moral and spiritual transformation. A person who pledged to give precedence to faith over worldly interests must strive to worship the One God, fulfil the rights of others and abandon every form of falsehood, injustice, arrogance and cruelty. 

Turning to the state of the wider world, His Holiness said that dishonesty had become deeply rooted in international affairs and politics. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“Today, we see that falsehood alone appears to govern the world. Look at international politics, national politics or people’s social relations with one another: people believe that nothing can be accomplished without resorting to falsehood.” 

His Holiness said that a believer could not allow truth to be determined by popularity or political convenience. 

His Holiness said: 

“A believer must consider what the reality is and what the truth is. They should not look at what the people around them are saying. We must consider what Allah the Almighty says to us. If we fail to do so, then our faith is not complete.” 

His Holiness also condemned vengeance. He said that lasting peace required people and nations to replace hostility with mercy and to recognise the common humanity of others. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“Therefore, if you wish to establish peace in the world, you should create an atmosphere of compassion, live together with love and affection, and show love not only towards one another but towards every human being.” 

His Holiness said that if Ahmadi Muslims fulfilled the obligations of their pledge, their example and peaceful message could help counter both religious extremism and hostility towards religion. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“If we bring about a pure transformation within ourselves, fulfil the obligations of our bai‘at and act fully upon its conditions, then we will not only establish a pure society among ourselves, but, by spreading the true and peaceful message of Islam, we will also convey to Muslims, non-Muslims, opponents of Islam and even atheists a teaching that will ultimately convince them that Ahmadis seek to establish the sovereignty of the One God and to uphold the highest moral values, so that the world does not become an abode of disorder but a haven of peace and security.” 

In his concluding words, His Holiness again directed the attention of Ahmadi Muslims towards the peace and security of all humanity. 

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: 

“Pray for the peace and security of the entire world, and pray also for the survival and security of Muslims. May Allah enable every Ahmadi to play their fullest part in establishing the sovereignty of the One God in the world and in spreading peace and security throughout it. May Allah enable all of us to do so.” 

His Holiness then called upon everyone to join him in silent prayer. Following the prayer, His Holiness announced that the attendance at Jalsa Salana UK 2026 had reached 51,181. Thereafter, poems were recited by various groups before His Holiness took his leave, bringing the 60th Jalsa Salana UK to a close.
