Friday Sermon: Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Calls for Peace and the Establishment of the Unity of Allah the Almighty
“The opponents of the Muslim world seek to exploit these circumstances to create unrest so that Muslim countries are unable to support one another. Therefore, there is a great need for prayers. May Allah grant us the ability to pray in this regard as well, and enable the Muslim world to be bound together in a chain of unity.” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad
On 27 March 2026, the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, delivered the Friday Sermon at Mubarak Mosque in Islamabad, Tilford, UK.
During the sermon, His Holiness continued speaking on the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), highlighting his constant struggle to establish Tauhid – the Oneness of Allah the Almighty. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad also continued to urge the Community to pray in light of the current global situation, particularly the worsening effects of war in the Middle East.
Opening his sermon, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“There is no doubt that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) confronted the idolaters in order to establish Tauhid, and ultimately purified the Ka‘bah of 360 idols. However, alongside this, he also strove to instil the belief in the Oneness of Allah within people’s hearts and to establish a community that loved Tauhid. He provided such subtle and excellent moral and spiritual training that no room for doubt or ambiguity remained.”
Thereafter, His Holiness highlighted the perfect qualities of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and how he was widely praised by all who encountered him. However, such praise would instil a sense of concern in the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), lest people begin to regard him as possessing any form of divinity.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad explained:
“Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said… that he had heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) state: ‘Do not exaggerate in praising me as exaggeration was made in the praise of the son of Mary (peace be upon him). I am only a servant of Allah, so say: the servant of Allah and His Messenger.’”
His Holiness also drew attention to the sanctity and protection afforded to those who profess Islam and affirm the Oneness of Allah the Almighty. In this regard, His Holiness explained that a companion of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once asked that, if during a battle an enemy were to raise a sword, sever one’s limbs, and then suddenly declare himself to be a Muslim and affirm the Oneness of Allah, what should be done. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied that such a person must not be harmed and should instead be granted protection.
His Holiness then referred to another incident in which a well-known companion engaged in a duel with an opponent who, at the last moment, proclaimed that he was a Muslim and affirmed the Oneness of Allah. Upon learning of this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became extremely displeased and admonished the companion by asking whether he had opened the man’s chest to examine what was in his heart. The companion was deeply moved and embarrassed, and later expressed that he wished he had only accepted Islam at that moment, so that his past actions might have been forgiven.
Speaking on the matter of pleasing others besides Allah the Almighty, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘The thing I fear most for you is minor shirk [idolatry].’ The Companions asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is minor shirk?’ The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, ‘It is riya – flaunting ostentatiously to others.’”
With regards to this, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:
“Thus, displaying one’s actions, flattering others, or seeking personal benefit through ostentation is akin to setting someone up in opposition to Allah the Almighty. This constitutes a form of shirk, which is greatly disliked by Allah the Almighty.”
Towards the end of the sermon, His Holiness drew attention to the current situation unfolding in the Middle East and the assault being carried out by the US and Israel against Iran.
Calling for an end to the violence, His Holiness urged members of the Community to pray for the Muslim world and for global peace.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“The conditions of war are continuing to worsen. The United States and Israel appear intent on establishing their dominance across the world, and particularly within the Muslim world. When the war in Palestine first began, the Israeli Prime Minister stated that the map of the region would be changed. These efforts are now aimed at reshaping that very map. The Muslim world should also recognise the direction in which these powers are moving, and understand that unity among Muslims is of utmost necessity.”
Speaking on the mediation efforts led by Pakistan, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“It has been reported that Pakistan is attempting to facilitate reconciliation between Iran and the United States. In any case, since the harm is occurring among Arab countries, Pakistan is making efforts from that standpoint. However, certain circles in Iran have developed suspicions about this, and some educated individuals and analysts in Iran have alleged that Pakistan is training US forces within its territory and assisting those who might wage war against Iran. In any case, this is entirely incorrect, and Pakistan has denied these claims.”
Concluding his sermon, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad prayed:
“The opponents of the Muslim world seek to exploit these circumstances to create unrest so that Muslim countries are unable to support one another. Therefore, there is a great need for prayers. May Allah grant us the ability to pray in this regard as well, and enable the Muslim world to be bound together in a chain of unity.”
