Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Imparts Guidance to Missionaries Serving the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United Kingdom
“If you truly fear Allah, you will only perform righteous deeds.” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad
On 24 January 2026, the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, graciously granted an audience to Missionaries serving the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United Kingdom. Having received their formal training at Jamia Ahmadiyya, these Missionaries are dedicated to conveying the peaceful teachings of Islam and providing moral and spiritual training to members of the Community nationwide.
During the audience, the Missionaries received direct guidance and instructions from His Holiness on how to further improve and strengthen their work.
At the beginning of the audience, His Holiness underscored the importance of outreach and preaching, emphasising the need to build meaningful contacts.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“It is the responsibility of a Missionary to form external contacts [with people outside of the Community]… There are currently forty-one Missionaries working in the field, and if each of you were to develop proper contacts, even as few as ten each, this would at least amount to 410 in total…. Therefore, you must formulate a comprehensive plan [for preaching].”
His Holiness further elaborated:
“In the same way, you are responsible for the moral training of our members. Various issues arise, particularly family and matrimonial matters. For example, disputes between husbands and wives arise. Some couples remain married for twenty or even twenty-five years, their children grow up, and then they think of separation or divorce. For such issues as well, missionaries must work towards finding appropriate solutions.”
Whilst speaking about the responsibilities of missionaries with regards to the moral training and development of Ahmadi Muslim youth, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“With regard to the moral training of children, some assume that this responsibility rests solely with Khuddamul Ahmadiyya or Lajna Imaillah, and that only these auxiliary organisations are responsible for training children and teaching them the Holy Qur’an. It is true that each auxiliary organisation has its own programmes, including Qur’anic education, but this is also a core responsibility of missionaries.”
His Holiness went on to stress that it is the fundamental duty of missionaries to remain in regular contact with members of the Community, to encourage them towards the mosques, and to continually remind them of the importance of prayer. He emphasised that missionaries must lead by example for the wider Community.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Understand your responsibilities as Missionaries. A great task has been entrusted to you. Some write in their letters that they desire to be sincere helpers and supporters of Khilafat. To truly become helpers of Khilafat, one must strive with full dedication and serve faithfully. Sacrifices must be made and earnest effort must be exerted.”
Thereafter, His Holiness said:
“The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) used to say that in earlier times the Companions would go forth for jihad. Today, that form of jihad does not exist, but the jihad required in this era must be fulfilled properly and with full commitment. You are among those who have stepped forward and offered themselves, declaring that they will remain at the forefront of this struggle, guiding others and setting personal examples through their own conduct. Only then will you attain the objective that you have been entrusted with…
Since you have dedicated yourselves for the sake of Allah the Almighty, sacrifices will inevitably be required. Waqf [devotion] in itself is synonymous with sacrifice.”
His Holiness then spoke about the importance of outreach within one’s local area. His Holiness reminded those present that many years ago he had instructed that organised efforts should be made so that at least five to ten per cent of a country’s population is reached each year and presented with the message of Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam. His Holiness noted with concern that adequate progress had not been made in fulfilling this objective.
His Holiness referred to the Fazl Mosque, the oldest mosque in London, and expressed that many people living in its vicinity remain unaware of its historical significance and are unaware of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. His Holiness stressed that it is the responsibility of every missionary to actively convey the message of Islam within their localities, ensuring that people are aware of the Community and its efforts to serve humanity.
One missionary asked His Holiness whether a dedicated team of missionaries should be appointed specifically to respond to theological arguments and to address allegations levelled against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community on social media and other online platforms.
With regards to this, Hazrat Mirza Masoor Ahmad said:
“The UK Tabligh [outreach] Department are working on this and all Missionaries should assist them and work alongside them. They should become part of their team and help them. Those who are well educated, knowledgeable, and possess a strong level of religious understanding should particularly offer their support.
From the same team and the same platform, a unified response should be given, rather than each individual setting up their own separate platform and responding independently. Where a system already exists, activate it and make it more efficient. If you do this, matters will improve.”
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:
“In preaching, wisdom is always required. Nowadays, people’s threshold for listening is not very high. They want short messages and prefer to listen to short content. Therefore, when you are assisting the Tabligh Department, you can also offer suggestions, such as sharing short clips on social media so that people become aware of these matters.
There are countless quotations from the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) regarding the status and rank of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Share these so that the incorrect notions people hold in their minds are removed, including the false idea, God forbid, that we disrespect the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) or do not believe in the Holy Qur’an… Similarly, contemporary issues should also be presented and addressed on social media through Tabligh efforts.”
Towards the end of the audience, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Do not think that simply by working you have fulfilled your duty or that you have pleased Allah. Alongside your efforts, you must also give due attention to prayers and Salat. Every task should begin with prayer, seeking the help of Allah the Almighty. Only then will your efforts be truly blessed.
I have been narrating examples from the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recently in my sermons. I deliberately repeat these incidents again and again, even when they have already been narrated, so that this point becomes firmly ingrained in your minds that despite all matters being in hand, the Holy Prophet (peace an blessings of Allah be upon him) remained constantly engaged in the remembrance of Allah and continued to supplicate before Him in prayer.
The same is found in the accounts of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). Despite all his responsibilities and work, he gave foremost attention to prayer. Therefore, do not forget these things, even as you continue with your other duties.
The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) has said: Fear Allah and do everything. This does not mean that one should do wrong actions; rather, it means that if you truly fear Allah, you will only perform righteous deeds. And to fear Allah means to remain constantly humble and submissive before Him.”
