“May Allah the Almighty grant us the ability to strive to become true Muslims by acting upon the example of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and may He also enable us to be among those who convey his message to the world, so that we may draw the world beneath his banner.” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad

On 19 December 2025, the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), delivered his Friday Sermon from the Mubarak Mosque in Islamabad, Tilford, UK. His Holiness spoke about the exemplary and perfect life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), emphasising that he represents a universal role model for all humanity.

At the outset of the sermon, His Holiness quoted Chapter 33, verse 22 of the Holy Qur’an in which it states:

“Verily you have in the Prophet of Allah an excellent model, for him who fears Allah and the Last Day and who remembers Allah much.” (The Holy Qur’an 33:22)

His Holiness explained that the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) life demonstrates how faith must be reflected through moral conduct, compassion, humility, patience and integrity, and that people of all backgrounds should strive to align their lives with his teachings.

His Holiness explained that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) attained the highest moral station, fulfilling the rights of God and the rights of people alike, and that his life serves as a complete and practical guide for ethical living.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:

“Do not merely listen to the words of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but act upon them. Mere belief is not sufficient. And when you act upon them, you will surely attain the purpose for which this Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sent.”

Addressing contemporary attitudes towards religion, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad highlighted that worship is not performed for the benefit of God, but to cultivate gratitude within individuals. His Holiness explained that the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was blessed by Allah the Almighty with exceptional bounties, yet it was the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who was most thankful and grateful for his Lord’s favours.

His Holiness explained that we must follow the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and express gratitude to our Creator as well:

“God has no need of your worship. But do not His spiritual and worldly favours upon you demand that you express gratitude and become truly thankful servants?”

His Holiness further emphasised that even the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself did not view salvation as something earned through personal achievement, but as dependent entirely on divine mercy. Quoting the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), His Holiness said:

“No person will enter Paradise by virtue of their deeds alone… even I cannot enter Paradise through my actions alone, except if God’s grace and mercy envelop me.”

A significant portion of the sermon focused on the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) conduct within his home, particularly his kindness and patience displayed towards his wives. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad explained that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) demonstrated exceptional emotional intelligence, responding to tension with calmness.

His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, said:

“At times, even his wives would speak harshly to him, yet he would respond by quietly smiling and letting the matter pass.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad also highlighted the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) lifelong appreciation and loyalty to Hazrat Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), his first wife, who stood by him during the earliest and most difficult years of his prophethood.

His Holiness explained that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never forgot Hazrat Khadijah’s (may Allah be pleased with her) sacrifices and continued to honour her memory with affection. His Holiness explained that this exemplifies gratitude that a husband should possess for his wife, whilst also symbolising faithfulness and loyalty within marriage.

Towards the end of his sermon, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad quoted the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) wrote:

“That person who, through his very being, his qualities, his conduct, his actions, and the powerful, flowing river of his pure and spiritual faculties, demonstrated the most perfect model of excellence in knowledge, in practice, in truthfulness, and in steadfastness, and who came to be known as the perfect human being, is that blessed Prophet – the Seal of the Prophets, the Leader of the Chosen, the Final of the Messengers, the Pride of all Messengers – Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

O God, O Beloved God, send upon this beloved Prophet such mercy and blessings as You have not sent upon anyone since the beginning of the world.”

In conclusion, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad prayed:

“Therefore, may Allah the Almighty grant us the ability to strive to become true Muslims by acting upon the example of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and may He also enable us to be among those who convey his message to the world, so that we may draw the world beneath his banner. May Allah the Almighty grant us this ability.”
