Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Provides Guidance to Teachers of Jamia Ahmadiyya Germany
“We should think about how we can improve the standard of students – not only their academic level, but their spiritual and moral state – and that can only be achieved if our own spiritual state improves.” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad
On 14 September 2025, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, held a meeting with teachers of Jamia Ahmadiyya Germany, the Community’s theological training institute.
Jamia Ahmadiyya institutions exist across the world, including in the United Kingdom, Canada, Ghana, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, and are responsible for training future missionaries of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
At the start, each teacher introduced themselves and the subjects they teach at Jamia Ahmadiyya Germany. His Holiness underlined that a foremost duty of every teacher is to pray for their students and to dedicate their supplications consistently to their progress and success.
His Holiness also emphasised the importance of adopting modern teaching methods.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Here [in the West], people are accustomed to certain teaching styles. We should devise innovative ways of teaching. Students must be taught in depth so they can truly understand… You may also invite external experts who are knowledgeable in different fields. However, you must also ensure that by listening to them, students do not become inclined towards worldliness.”
Whilst addressing the teachers, His Holiness reminded them of their responsibility, stating that they had been entrusted with the task of nurturing future ‘gems’ who would go on to serve the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:
“You are tasked with shaping future missionaries of the Community. A student who spends seven years in Jamia should emerge as a well-polished gem, so that when he goes into the field there should be no complaints [against him].”
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:
“You have been given the responsibility of guiding young individuals who can later serve the Community as beneficial Missionaries… Therefore, you must explore new paths and find new ways to improve yourselves and your students.”
His Holiness also drew the teachers’ attention to their own self-reformation, noting that it is through their personal example that they can best nurture the academic and spiritual development of their students.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:
“We should think about how we can improve the standard of students – not only their academic level, but their spiritual and moral state – and that can only be achieved if our own spiritual state improves […] I say to those here, and to the other Jamias as well; strive to attain this standard, because many challenges are headed our way.”
His Holiness stated:
“If you want to create a [spiritual and moral] revolution in the world, you must first become wholeheartedly passionate yourselves; then you will create passion in your students […] Seven years are spent in Jamia; such skills should be taught there that wherever a student goes [in the field] – whatever place he is posted – he may discharge his duties in an excellent fashion. This important responsibility has been placed upon you.”
His Holiness further advised the teaching staff to continue their own studies, and that each of them should dedicate several hours each day to reading and research.
With regards to this, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:
“Review your entire day… Six hours are enough for sleep; three hours are enough for eating and socialising. If you give two more hours, that still leaves you thirteen hours – those hours must be used properly. […] This routine [of hard work] must also be instilled in our students, and that can only happen if you yourselves are setting an example for them.”
During the meeting, one attendee asked His Holiness if the situation for Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan would improve.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:
“Every matter reaches a climax, and after that comes a decline. The same will happen in Pakistan [in terms of persecution]. When will that happen? Only Allah knows. At present, the situation [of Ahmadi Muslims] in Pakistan is not as dire as that of the Palestinians. In fact, by Allah’s grace, for some time, a degree of improvement is apparent. There are some people and certain officials whose hearts are being softened. Of course, Tehreek-e-Labbaik is instigating against us, but that too will reach its climax and then decline. You should remain hopeful. Continue praying, and Pakistani Ahmadi Muslims must especially raise the standard of their prayers – only then will change come.”
Towards the conclusion of the meeting, one teacher requested prayers from His Holiness that they may be able to fulfil their responsibilities in accordance with the expectations he had outlined. In response, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:
“Alongside prayers, effort is also required. Some people come and say, ‘Pray that this happens.’ I reply by asking them how many prayers they offer. From their replies, it is sometimes apparent that their own prayers are lacking – so then how can mine benefit them? You must first make your own effort. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Support my prayers with your own prayers.’”
