Caliph delivers Friday Sermon in Texas for the first time

On 26 October 2018, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad delivered his weekly Friday Sermon from the Baitus Samee Mosquein Houston, Texas.

During his sermon, His Holiness spoke of the need for Ahmadi Muslims to adopt the highest standards of righteousness, as explained by the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him).

His Holiness said Islam required Muslims to strive to avoid all types of sins, such as falsehood and ill-thinking of others. His Holiness said that it was not enough to merely avoid harming others, rather a person should proactively seek to help others and to attain the highest moral standards.

His Holiness also spoke about the true status of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“It is a great bounty of Allah upon us that He has enabled us to accept the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). Allah the Almighty has enabled us to accept that true servant of the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings upon him), who was referred to lovingly as ‘Our Mahdi’ by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) himself.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:

“The words of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) are a magnificent guide to help us achieve the purpose of our lives. The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) described in detail the spiritual and moral standards Ahmadi Muslims should aim to achieve. In today’s materialistic world, his words hold even greater importance because people are moving away from faith and becoming increasingly materialistic.”

His Holiness went on to quote several excerpts of the writings of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) outlining the high standards of spirituality expected of Ahmadi Muslims.

For example, the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) said that it was not enough to abstain from high crimes or great sins, rather every effort should be made to avoid even the smallest forms of immorality and injustice.

Reflecting upon the current state of the world, His Holiness said that materialism was widespread and people were being driven away from religion and this was one cause of the manifestation of God Almighty’sWrath through increased natural disasters. His Holiness said that an analysis of natural disasters showed that their frequency has been greater in the past century compared to previous ones.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“We need to understand the reasons of this phenomena of increased natural disasters. Worldly and materialistic people may not accept or understand this, however we, Ahmadi Muslims, should understand that this is an expression of the displeasure of Allah the Almighty. We must inform others that the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) warned of these calamities a hundred years ago and the only means of averting such widespread disasters was by coming towards God Almighty.”

Concluding the Friday Sermon, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“May Allah enable us to fulfil the pledge we have made to the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and inculcate a righteous reform within ourselves. Whilst living in this world and being a part of it, may we fulfil the pledge to give precedence to our faith over world objectives.”
